our Origin
OwnerBuildPro
is based in Cincinnati Ohio. It was founded by Bob
Jones. Bob is a Certified Project Manager with the Project Management
Institute (PMI). His masters certification in Project
Management from the George Washington University and twelve years of
corporate application have been used to produce the basis for the OwnerBuildPro
Home Construction Methodology.
Bob
was his own first customer and build his own custom homes following
the the process. A team of local general contractors and
home building associates, together with Bob, helped to further refine
the products and services that are now available to you.

Products and Services
The
OwnerBuildPro
Custom Home Constructon system applies proven project management
techniques to produce a construction discipline that is easy to
follow, duplicable, teachable, and applicable to current and future
owner builder house projects. A full array of team developed paper
based and supplemental electronic checklists, construction manuals,
budgets and scheduling project materials all make up the tools that
are provided to you. A professional zippered binder daily home
construction planner will be the tool most used by you for day-to-day
tasks and activities. It is designed to keep you on time and on
budget. Local and remote professional experienced home construction
consultants provide expertise for personal "how to" advise
on demand best effort as you need it.
The
process system is simply a series of small tasks (what we call
"construction steps") that enable a novice person with no
experience in construction to complete the building of a quality well
built house. The size and complexity of the house is rendered nearly
irrelevant as a result of the OwnerBuildPro
process. This means that a 600 square foot cottage or a 8,000 square
foot estate house will have the same level of checks and balances to
produce a finished product as visualized by the owner builder.
Obviously, fewer tasks would be necessary with smaller, less complex
house - BUT the same discipline in process requirements would be retained.
About
How Our Process
The
OwnerBuildPro
process is unique in the industry by introducing a "Where Am I
Now" and "What's Next" approach to every step of the
owner builder experience. No matter what point a person starts the OwnerBuildPro
process, they will immediately be able to determine two things. (1.
Where am I in the process, and 2. What should I do Next). These two
key items, make it nearly impossible for a novice to get lost or make
costly mistakes during construction. For example, if the owner
builder has just completed having the electrical rough wiring
installed (Where Am I), that action determines what the Next Step
Must Be. The next step in the process would be an electrical rough
checklist review (What Next). If the review is found complete (Where
Am I), then the next step is an electrical inspection (What Next)!
From there, the next step and the next are executed in sequence,
until a milestone is reached (e.g. Electrical Inspection Approval
Letter). This step one, step two, step three (Where Am I) approach is
extremely efficient.

Support Consultant
Of
course the big component is the availability of the owner builder to
call or email his/her personal OwnerBuildPro
support consultant to answer any questions that might arise. That
consultant will, say "...yeah, you did that right, your next is
to do A, B or C...).
About
Confidence Results
The
combination of the OwnerBuildPro
process tools and the OwnerBuildPro
Support Consultant produces a level of knowledge that allows a novice
owner builder to confidently move forward in building the house. The
person knows what to do next and who to call if they get confused or
have questions. This produces confidence!
